Nico Rosberg watched in amazement on Friday as Mercedes once again failed to convince. Indeed, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton did not get further than the eleventh and thirteenth starting positions. The former Mercedes driver wonders if the German racing stable will still solve the problems in 2022, he told Sky Sports.
Rosberg used to drive for Mercedes when the German team was the top team in Formula 1, but that has changed this season. Partly due to the new regulations Red Bull Racing and Ferrari have surpassed the team and Mercedes has to settle for a place in the sub top of the driver field.
However, during the Grand Prix in Imola, Mercedes did not even manage to reach Q3. It caused a lot of dissatisfaction after qualifying with Hamilton and Toto Wolff openly discussing what was wrong with the car.

Rosberg points out Mercedes problem

Rosberg sees that porpoising, among other things, still plays a role. "It seriously gives you back and headaches just watching that. It is unbelievable," the analyst states. "The problem is they don't see that problem in the windtunnel because the conditions are stable so it is a different environment. There is a big correlation issue and that also makes it difficult to understand the problem and find solutions."
