Ricciardo: "It's gonna be a very lonely race for Verstappen"

Almost everyone inside the top ten for Silverstone's second Grand Prix starts on the yellow medium tyres. That tyre was the softest tyre before and again turned out to be the fastest tyre for many teams. Not for Max Verstappen, because he drove the second qualifying session on the white tyre, Pirelli's hardest tyre this weekend. With that he managed to go to Q3 and that's why he's starting on that tyre.

According to Daniel Ricciardo, who will start from fifth place behind Verstappen, the choice of the Dutchman is striking. "It's a special situation with Max. He will certainly take advantage of the hard tyres later in the race", Riccardo explains to Auto, Motor und Sport.

Yet Ricciardo doesn't expect an exciting race for his former teammate at Red Bull Racing. "I expect he's going to have a lonely race behind the two Mercedes drivers". It will be an exciting race for Ricciardo today, as the Renault driver will start at the front of the midfield.

Most likely the Australian will duel with Nico Hülkenberg, who will start from third place. "After twenty laps his neck will hang to one side I expect", jokes Ricciardo, referring to the long break the German has had from racing.
