The first day of testing in Bahrain is over. The
Formula 1 teams were given the opportunity to improve their cars just before the new season. The most important thing for them was to set as many laps as possible, and
Red Bull Racing more than succeeded.
The Austrian racing team started with
Sergio Perez all day Thursday. The Mexican set a tenth time for Red Bull, but managed to score the most laps.
Max Verstappen's teammate crossed the finish line no less than 137 times, making it a good day for him.
Mercedes also collected a lot of data. The team gave
Lewis Hamilton and
George Russell both half a day to get used to their new car. This resulted in 121 laps behind the wheel, just ahead of the German formation were Alfa Romeo. The team recorded 120 laps, followed by
Ferrari with 116 laps.
Four teams with less than 100 laps
Aston Martin, Alpine,
McLaren and Haas had considerably fewer laps to their names at the end of the day for various reasons. The four teams in fact stayed under 100 laps. However, they still have plenty of time over the next two days to test the car.
