Indycar driver shrugs off F1: 'No DRS nonsense here to make it easy'

Graham Rahal has been critical of the DRS system in Formula 1. The IndyCar driver cracks down on the system and sees it as merely a tool that makes overtaking much easier. His preferred tool is what is used in IndyCar, the Push to Pass button.

Last weekend, Graham Rahal himself had an extended introduction to IndyCar's Push to Pass system. At Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the American failed to pass race leader Scott Dixon. Dixon made clever use of the Push to Pass system, which can be used both in defence and when overtaking another car. The operation of the Push to Pass button is more or less similar to the KERS system from Formula 1.

Although he was on Dixon's tail for laps, Rahal did not manage to run away with the win. A DRS button could have made things a lot easier for Rahal, but hiet is definitely not his preference. He praises Dixon for clever use of the tool. Speaking to Motorsport, Rahal comments: "That's what I kind of love about our version of overtake frankly. You use it [Push to Pass] offensively, defensively. None of this DRS crap that makes it easy."
