Sergio Perez is confident he'll feel the full extent of Racing Point's fresh funding when he climbs into the cockpit this weekend. The Pink Panther is set to receive major upgrades in Spain.
The fresh funding, supplied by new owner Lawerence Stroll and sponsor SportsPesa, has allowed upgrades to be carried out. At the moment, Perez believes the team are still playing catch up.
“I think it will be the first impact of what we can be, and that [Spain] will be an important weekend for us. You have to remember that the new administration came in very late in the year, so we are a bit behind schedule ideally, but we’re playing catch up," Perez said in an interview on Crash.
“I think obviously we are in the same boat as everyone in the midfield. It will be very important to see where we stand with our upgrades."
Perez currently sits level with Red Bull driver Pierre Gasly in the standings. While Racing Point only trails McLaren by just one point in the battle for fourth place.
