It was another stunning performance by
Max Verstappen, who claimed pole position for the second weekend in a row.
After the longest qualifying session of the season, Carlos Sainz will start alongside the Dutchman on the front row. Liam Lawson and Mercedes youngster Kimi Antonelli will start from the second row.
George Russell finished fifth, and will be joined by Yuki Tsunoda on the third row. The Japanese driver achieved his best grid position with a Red Bull today.
After crashing out in Q3 and causing red flags,
Oscar Piastri and
Charles Leclerc will start from row five.
Despite not setting a lap time in the final session, the Australian driver will line up just behind his championship rival
Lando Norris, who starts seventh.
After another early elimination,
Lewis Hamilton is set to start from 12th place. Fellow world champion Fernando Alonso will start alongside the Briton on Sunday.
There has already been a change to the results in qualifying. After finishing 18th, Esteban Ocon was disqualified from the session
for having too flexible wings.
The Frenchman is relegated to last place, with Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon gaining a position respectively.
