What records could be broken at the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend? GPblog lists them for you. Max Verstappen has an impressive track record at the Red Bull Ring, with five victories to his name in Austria. Will he add another to his tally, or will a McLaren, Mercedes, or even a Ferrari take victory? We will find out this weekend!
Red Bull's Verstappen has a great track record at the team's home race. The four-time world champion has won the Austrian Grand Prix four times and the Styrian Grand Prix once. As a result, he has the most victories at the Red Bull Ring in F1.
Among the current grid, Valtteri Bottas holds the second-most wins in Austria with two victories, the same number as Lewis Hamilton. However, Hamilton’s tally includes one win at the Austrian Grand Prix and another at the Styrian Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc and George Russell have also taken their own respective victories at the Red Bull Ring.

What records could be broken in Spielberg?

The 2025 Austrian Grand Prix is Kimi Antonelli’s final opportunity to become the youngest front row starter in a Grand Prix in F1 history. On race day at the Red Bull Ring, Antonelli will be 18 years, 10 months and 4 days old. This would make him one day younger than Lance Stroll, who started on the front row at the 2017 Italian Grand Prix
The 2025 Austrian Grand Prix will be the 1,000th round of F1 to feature a French driver on the grid. France is the second nation to reach the milestone, after Britain. Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly fly the Tricolour flag in the 2025 season for Haas and Alpine, respectively.
If McLaren take pole position and win the race, this will be the 100th Grand Prix where the team have taken pole and also won.

Verstappen dominates the Red Bull Ring record books

In recent years, Verstappen has consistently dominated qualifying in Austria. The Dutchman has started from pole position at the Red Bull Ring for the past five seasons and could secure a sixth consecutive pole there this weekend. Including the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix, it would mark his seventh straight pole at the circuit. Austria hosted two races in both 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Verstappen also holds the record for the fastest laps at the Red Bull Ring, having set the benchmark four times. If he sets another this weekend, he’ll move clear of Lewis Hamilton, who currently sits just behind him. Should Hamilton clock the fastest lap instead, he would draw level with Verstappen. When it comes to laps led at the Austrian circuit, Verstappen once again tops the list — he has led a total of 338 laps in Spielberg.

There’s also plenty at stake for the constructors. Both McLaren and Ferrari have six victories each at the Red Bull Ring, while Red Bull Racing trails with four. A win this weekend would bring the home team level with their rivals. In short, there’s a lot to look forward to in Austria.
