Pirelli have headaches over 2019 tyre compounds

Pirelli will have just three names for tires next season. Hard, medium and soft compounds will feature at every race in 2019, but only by name. Teams will still receive different varieties for each race. Mario Isola says this will make it easier for fans, but not for those involved at Pirelli.
"It is still not entirely clear how it will affect our logistics. It is crucial not to mix tires because even though we only have three names next year, we still have five to six different compounds," Isola said.
Several compounds will be given the same colour wall over two different weekends. As well as this, if a tyre doesn't get used at one weekend, it may return to the next race with a different stripe.
And Isola confirms they are not sure which colours they will use yet.
"There is still a meeting with the FOM and television teams to determine which colours are easily recognisable. On television, for example, it is difficult to distinguish between yellow and white," Isola said.
