Perez expects challenging battle: 'We all know how talented Max is'

Sergio Perez expects the battle with Max Verstappen in 2021 to be a tough one for him. He holds the Dutchman in high regard, praising him for his rapid growth in Formula One. Checo also says he is sharing new ideas with the team to improve the car's performance.

"I think I bring a lot of experience and knowledge to the team. I've been in the sport for a long time with several teams and in different times. I think I can help the team in certain places. There are already good ideas that we share with the team, which will help us improve on-track performance," Perez explained on RedBull.com.

Perez believes his victory late in the 2020 season gave Red Bull an extra boost to contract him. "But I've been in the sport for years, so people have known what I can do for some time. This is an opportunity for myself that I can show people."

The Mexican driver will compete with his new teammate Max Verstappen next season and knows how good the Dutchman is. "We all know Max, how talented, how fast, how much he has grown in the past years, how complete he is by now. So he's definitely one of the best and one of the fastest, if not the fastest out there on the current grid."
