On Tuesday, it became official: Sergio Perez has signed a new two-year deal with Red Bull Racing. The 34-year-old Mexican is also confident that is not the final he put his pen to paper in the sport, as he declared it was not his final contract in Formula One.
Perez suggested that he would like to stay in Formula One until he is close to being 40-years-old, given he compared himself to Fernando Alonso, who already over 40, and Lewis Hamilton, who will turn that age once he starts his chapter at Ferrari. "When you look at Fernando [Alonso] or even Lewis [Hamilton], there's a long way to go. I think I didn't sign my last contract. I don't feel like I've done that," he said about his long-term future in the sport. Perez made his debut back in 2011 with Sauber, and now has a contract until 2026.

Finishing his career at Red Bull

Red Bull have built a reputation for developing young drivers and promoting them to the top team. Current World Champion Max Verstappen is the best example of that, but the flow has dried up in recent years. Perez stated that he wants to finish his career Red Bull.
He added: "I don't think it's something that you feel, because when you commit to two years in Formula One, it's a lot of time, a lot of energy, and it's a long way down the line. So, yes, to be honest, I don't really think about that. What I'm pretty sure about is that I want to finish my career at Red Bull."

If Perez does want to finish his career with the Austrian team and believes another contract is on the cards, that would mean he could sign at least one more contract with the formation for the six-time Grand Prix winner.
