Sergio Perez believes his deal for 2019 will be announced soon. The Mexican has been linked with staying at Racing Point Force India even after the takeover by a consortium backed by Lawrence Stroll.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, Perez is sure that his plans will be finalised soon and is expected to partner Lance Stroll at the new Force India entry for 2019.
"For me I already know what I'm doing next year," Perez told the media after qualifying. "But I cannot communicate it yet.
"I don't think it'll be long from now. We are not in a hurry, I think."
His teammate could be on the move sooner though, Esteban Ocon's F1 future is very much up in the air and rumours suggest Ocon will be without a seat by the time the F1 paddock reaches Monza in one weeks time.
Perez though will be hoping for a strong result today to reaffirm his position in the sport and with Force India, he will line up alongside his teammate in fourth position as part of a Force India second row lock-out.
"We thought we were on time for the two laps, but unfortunately we lost the second lap by one second, which would have made a massive difference for us today," he said.
"We had three seconds, three and a half seconds to find, to improve, to be in P1. But certainly there was a lot of potential.
"Normally when you compare people across the first lap to the second, they found about three seconds or so.
"Could've been a fight, probably, for pole position."
