Esteban Ocon scored his and Force India’s first and only point of the season las time out in Bahrain, and the Frenchman is looking for more in China this weekend, especially with more upgrades on the way.
Ocon overtook Renault’s Carlos Sainz in the dying laps of Sunday’s race to claim tenth place in what has been a disappointing start to the season for Force India.
The team has finished fourth in the Constructors’ Championship for the last two season, but based on early season promise, it looks unlikely to see a repeat of this in 2018.
Haas, McLaren and Renault all appear to have overtaken Force India, with Toro Rosso and Sauber also higher in the standings after their respective positive results in Bahrain.
Ocon said: “A point in Bahrain was a nice reward after a really intense weekend.
“It always feels great when you overtake somebody in the final laps, especially when it moves you back into the points.”
Ocon also spoke about the next race in China, saying: “If we can just find a bit more speed we can consistently be up there in Q3 and racing for points.
“There are more updates coming to the car so it’s going to be another busy Friday.”
