From Lewis Hamilton explaining the costly strategy mistake that compromised his Singapore Grand Prix to Christian Horner ruling out a return to Red Bull more than a year after his dismissal, here are the main Formula 1 stories of the day.
Hamilton reveals what went wrong with costly Singapore strategy gamble
Lewis Hamilton has explained the circumstances behind his unsuccessful strategy gamble at the Singapore Grand Prix, admitting that he realised his decision to stay out was probably a mistake almost immediately.
Speaking to the media ahead of the United States Grand Prix, the seven-time world champion revealed that he wanted to pursue a different strategy from Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc, believing that following the same approach would limit his chances of challenging Max Verstappen for victory.
However, the gamble backfired. Hamilton struggled on the medium tyres during his opening stint before losing valuable time behind Leclerc. He later decided against entering the pit lane, unaware that his team-mate was coming in, and realised his mistake as he passed the pit entry.

The Briton accepted responsibility for the decision but defended his willingness to challenge Ferrari's strategic approach. He also confirmed that discussions have taken place behind the scenes to improve collaboration, insisting that the setback will not discourage him from taking risks in pursuit of better results.

Horner makes Red Bull return stance clear after shock dismissal
Christian Horner has ruled out the possibility of returning to Red Bull, bringing an end to speculation about a potential reunion with the team he led for two decades.
The Briton was dismissed in July 2025, shortly after the British Grand Prix, ending a remarkable spell that saw Red Bull claim eight Drivers' Championships and six Constructors' Championships. Since his departure, the 52-year-old has been linked with a potential return to Formula 1.

Speaking on Jodie Kidd's Kidd in a Sweet Shop YouTube channel, Horner reflected on his time at the Milton Keynes-based outfit, acknowledging that the final years of his tenure were difficult despite the team's considerable success.
The former team principal confirmed that he remains on good terms with Red Bull's shareholders but made it clear that his chapter with the Austrian outfit is over. Horner has previously expressed an interest in returning to Formula 1, although only in a role that would allow him to compete for victories.
