The Haas model has made small teams "respectable"

With the 2021 rule changes still up in the air, the B-team is still a hotly debated subject but F1 technical chief Ross Brawn believes Haas’ setup is a reliable one despite being heavily reliant on other manufacturers.

Haas who use the Ferrari 064 engine first entered F1 in 2016 and have since established themselves as one of the strongest midfield teams. They are just one of several B-teams with many feeling it gives them an unfair advantage.

Speaking to Sky Ross Brawn said on the matter: “The Haas model is interesting, it has been very successful and it's something we have to maintain for the future, for it to be possible for a small team to be able to come in and be pretty respectable.

Despite being an advocate for the Haas setup, Brawn admitted it must be clear where the line is Brawn: “We need to make sure we remove the doubt some teams have about their co-operation with the big team, which is Ferrari.
