New saga: Track limits at Portimao: three corners under strict surveillance

One of the most debatable issues of this season, however little we have seen of it, seems to be the often arbitrary enforcement of track limits by the FIA, and the differences between them throughout the weekend. Amid the storm of criticism over the FIA's enforcement, the authority today published the regulations on track limits at Portimao.
During the free practice sessions as well as the Grand Prix at the Algarve International Circuit, track limit violations in turns one, four and fifteen will result in an immediate removal of the lap time, as is stated in the Race Directors Event notes.
A violation in turn fifteen will also result in the time of the following lap being invalidated, as the advantage of a wider exit there still plays out after start-finish.

Mostly the same

If a driver violates the track limits once during a race, the FIA will issue a warning, but if a driver violates the track limits three times, an investigation and possible consequences will follow. The regulations that apply this weekend are mostly the same as those enforced last year at the circuit.
