The Safety Car in Formula 1 has long been produced by Mercedes-AMG. From 2021, however, they will have a partner, and a second manufacturer will also produce a Safety Car: Aston Martin.
Mercedes have been making the Safety Cars since 1996, and by now many can only imagine Bernd Mayländer in the AMG-Safety Car.

Aston Martin to produce Safety Car from 2021

The contract between Formula 1 and Mercedes expires after this season. Formula 1 has been looking for a new manufacturer for the Safety Car and Medical Car for some time, with several brand names circulating.
According to Auto, Motor und Sport Mercedes and Aston Martin could work in cooperation. Although the contract has not yet been signed, it is very likely that they will produce the Safety Cars in collaboration with Mercedes from 2021. This would be more cost-effective for both brands, as it would share the burden in the increasingly longer F1 seasons.
