Lewis Hamilton's third place at Silverstone proved that Mercedes has made another big step forward in improving the car. The German team hopes that this growth can also be seen in the coming races, according to Mike Elliott.
With the formation suffering from porpoising at the start of the new season, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari were out of sight for a while. After two strong Grands Prix in Spain and England Mercedes hopes to get to know the car better and better and benefit from this in the coming races.

Mercedes sees progress in performance

As technical director, Elliott is experiencing the situation up close. He says in conversation with Auto, Motor und Sport Mercedes seems to be on the right track, because in Britain they were not inferior to Red Bull and Ferrari, although the Austrians were better in terms of top speed.
"We have become faster without having to pay the price of more bounce," Elliott told the medium. "In the fast corners of Silverstone only the Red Bull bounced less than our car. This shows that we have learned our lessons. The next races will show whether we know everything."
