Amongst all of the shock and surprise surrounding Daniel Ricciardo this afternoon, Toto Wolff has confirmed his Mercedes team are pushing hard through the summer break to find improvement. The Silver Arrow is no longer the quickest car, and the team in Brackley are desperate to reverse this once more.
Wolff's team continue to lead both championships as Formula 1 heads into its summer break. In an interview on Formula passion, Wolff confirms he is impressed by the increased competition.
"The battle at the top is more exciting than ever, and the gaps are also very tight in the melee package. The races not only produced great wheel-to-wheel action on the track, but also some surprise winners. All in all, I would say that the 2018 season was a wonderful advertisement for the sport."
Even though the team can take positives into the summer break, they know they must work hard to improve. Ferrari are expected to continue rolling out upgrades as we head to huge power tracks in Belgium and Italy.
"We are going to the maximum to further improve our performance in the second part of the season," Wolff added.
