This weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix will mark the 200th race for one of F1’s much-loved teams. Force India entered the sport in 2008 after buying out the Spyker team and quickly established itself as a midfield team.
In 2009, Giancarlo Fisichella took Force India’s first and only pole position at Spa and converted it into second place and the team’s first podium.
Team principal Vijay Mallya has expressed his pride at reaching the milestone.
He said: “It’s our 200th race weekend and it would be nice to celebrate the milestone with a special result. It’s been a long journey since 2008 and I’m very proud of the results we have achieved, especially in 2016 and 2017.”
Force India finished as the best midfield runners in both these years, finishing P4 in the Constructors’ Championship. Their record points tally was last year, with 187.

Mallya continued: “It’s an incredibly busy time of the season with four races in five weeks and the fight in the middle of the grid remains very close.
“We will keep working hard to be at the front of the midfield as the season progresses.”
