George Russell’s rise to prominence has been rapid, to say the least, having won the Formula 2 title in 2018 Russell makes his F1 debut in 2019 and Paddy Lowe credits some of that progress to his experiences alongside Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes.
Russell was a reserve driver at Mercedes last season and Lowe believes that Russell understood the privilege of working with Hamilton.
“George is intelligent enough and humble enough to take advantage of and appreciate that privilege to work alongside someone who is undoubtedly well ahead of him at the moment,” Lowe told Autosport.
"For him to have seen exactly how Lewis works, what are the things he spends his time on, what is his approach, what is his attitude, will prove to be extremely valuable in the future."
Russell has also had his say on working alongside the five-time World Champion and it’s clear the young Brit is staying well grounded.

"Every driver has to find their own way of driving, but the things I've learned is how he interacts with the team, the feedback and everything and that's what I could learn,” Russell said.
"Lewis does offer bits of advice here and there, but like I say I use my ears more than my mouth.”
