According to RaceFans.net, draft regulations for the 2021 Formula 1 season suggest that extra display panels will be put on the cars. Two of these will be placed on the bodywork, while the other four will be rotating and fitted to the wheel rims.
Having displays inside the wheel rims could deliver extra information to the fans watching such as their current position on the track. This is part of Formula 1's push to keep ahead of rival Formulas.
Other information on the display might include the number of pitstops the driver has made. The wheel rim size for the season which sees the dramatic rule and regulation overhaul is increased to 18-inches.
Similar ideas have been tested in the past but never brought into the sport. IndyCar also tested these wheel rim displays in 2015 but were never brought into an actual race because the manufacturer closed.
