It sounds as if Formula 1 racing will continue at Silverstone after the 2019 edition as a future deal nears. But Liberty Media had looked at Cardiff as a possible venue for a street circuit.
Liberty Media had been looking at alternatives with both London and Cardiff marked as possibilities. Silverstone may host its last British Grand Prix this year after a clause in a contract was broken by the BRDC two years ago.
In the hunt for a new location, the Financial times reveals Cardiff was assessed. However, there wasn't enough time to plan and organise a race for the 2020 season. It looks as though the attention will be on Silverstone once more!
"Silverstone has a value and Chase Carey wants to keep the historic core of Formula 1 somewhere," said a person close to the talks.
According to the Financial Times, Cardiff has withdrawn in recent weeks to organize a possible Grand Prix in 2020.
