Although the 2023 tests went a lot better for Mercedes than the 2022 tests, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton looks dissatisfied. There are some positives, but the Briton's general reading is that Mercedes is still far short of the mark.

Mercedes lags behind

After the F1 winter tests, Mercedes is apparently not yet where the team would have liked to be. In front of the camera of F1.com Hamilton mentions the positives of the tests, but seems mostly affected by the negatives. Hamilton: " Last year we were already lacking [top speed], and it's still a bit like that this year. The bouncing is gone, although sometimes it occurs a little bit. It's just a much more beautiful world to be in without that bouncing and when you can actually see the road ahead."
Smiling, Hamilton reflects on the feeling after the 2022 tests: "Oh, God. Everyone was absolutely devastated last year." This year, the Brit does not look broken, but certainly not pleased either: "We have things to work on. We're still not able to match the Red Bull's currently, or the Ferrari's maybe."
