Charles Leclerc is ready to take on the title fight in 2022. This is what Mattia Binotto states in conversation with Motorsportweek.com. According to the Ferrari team boss, there is no doubt about the qualities of the Monegasque.
With a contract through 2024, Leclerc is the man of the hour at Ferrari and after the first two races in 2022 he seems to have confirmed that status. Where Leclerc in 2021 still had some trouble with his new teammate Carlos Sainz, he has little to fear from the Spaniard in early 2022. The title fight seems to be mainly between Leclerc and Max Verstappen.

World Championship for Leclerc

''I think he's ready, but that's something I also expected. The contract extension through 2024 was because we know what he is capable of. He has simply already shown that he will be able to fight for a world title, I have no doubt about that,'' said the Italian after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
After two races, Leclerc is on top of the Formula One championship. The Monegasque won in Bahrain and finished second in Saudi Arabia. In both races he took the point for the fastest lap. ''He has the talent, he has the capacity, he is a good racer and we are very happy with how he has done in the first few races,'' Binotto concluded.
