'Leclerc gets second internal combustion engine in Miami'

Ferrari has something to set right against Red Bull Racing this coming weekend. According to Motorsport.com the Italian racing team therefore chooses to give Charles Leclerc an entirely new engine, in order to maximize his chances of victory.

In Miami, both Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will reportedly have access to an improved ERS package, meaning both drivers will have to deal with more power this weekend. Ferrari had previously planned to do the update only in Barcelona, but the race in Imola reportedly made the team change its mind.

The medium stresses that Ferrari was not forced to replace the entire power unit, but that the decision is a strategic one to stay ahead of Red Bull. Whereas Sainz was already forced to start on his second engine in Italy, Leclerc is switching to his second combustion engine in the United States.

Ferrari is at the top of the world championship with Leclerc for the time being, but seems to realize that Red Bull is going to make quick steps forward with the car. In addition to this weekend's changes, Ferrari expects a host of updates for the F1-75 at Barcelona.
