RB20 under the microscope: 'Surprised if it still looks like this then'

Red Bull Racing had a dominant car in 2023, but they've still made some aggressive changes through the winter break. Adrian Newey has been working hard, trying to ensure Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez stay ahead of the competition. Ted Kravitz analyses the new car for Sky Sports.

During the test days in Bahrain, Verstappen will drive the RB20 on Wednesday. Kravitz thinks this car is not yet the final version used in the new season: "They haven't actually shown us what the real nose looks like. If the real nose does look like that going into the race in a week's time, I'll be surprised, but nothing is impossible."

The sidepods of the RB20 appear to be inspired by the 2022 Mercedes car. "So there is the vertical side pod entry, but actually, there's a hidden sidepod air intake just around the O of Oracle, just north, just upstream of the O of Oracle on the sidepod," Kravitz explained.

The pit reporter explained the aggressive changes made. He has enormous faith in the designer of the Formula 1 car. "All sorts of interesting things on this Red Bull and, well, I wouldn't doubt this man [Newey] for a minute. If he thinks it's going to work, that's good enough for me."
