After Kevin Magnussen was not picked up for another Formula 1 season, he started to look at other racing series, with the Dane eventually landing in the IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) series, where he will be racing with the BMW M Team.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Magnussen spoke about how certain childhood memories led him to this particular moment. "I came here so much as a kid and grew up at these races in a way and always knew I wanted to be a part of that".

Both Magnussen and his team are currently in Daytona, Florida for the first stint of the season. Yesterday, he took to social media to celebrate racing again.

He also mentioned how different sports car racing was from Formula 1. The former Haas driver said, “Sports car racing is more pure. I think people love what they do more in sports cars than they do in Formula 1. Because it’s so competitive (in F1), it can be kind of cold, in a way."
He continued, "I arrived here and see everyone smiling and looking forward to the race and everything. It’s a different vibe, different environment." While Magnussen never won a race during his time in Formula 1, he feels as if he actually has the chance now. "I’ve gone for 10 years and never had a chance for winning. All those years, I knew that I didn’t have a chance to win. I’m a racer, and I’m competitive. I grew up wanting to become the best and when you’ve done 10 years of knowing you can’t win, that gets kind of old after a while.”
