Hopes of a Spanish Grand Prix not over after Zandvoort announcement

Zandvoort may have just been announced, but Vincenc Aguilera is not ruling out the Spanish Grand Prix returning for 2020 describing it as a “tragedy” if the Spanish Grand Prix was no longer on the calendar.

Zandvoort was announced as the host for the long term rumoured, Dutch Grand Prix and although no date as confirmed it is widely expected to be the first European race of the season replacing the Spanish Grand Prix. The Spanish Grand Prix has been held at the Circuit de Catalunya since 1991 and has been held there ever since.

Alguilera the circuit boss told El Mundo Deportivo: “We are not having any calendar discussions.

“We have until summer, basically. It could be July, or the end of June, or the end of July if we complicate our lives a lot. But we have a reasonable amount of time to negotiate,” he added.
