Former Lotus and McLaren F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi sees an 'incredible' Max Verstappen carrying Red Bull, something the Brazilian believes Ayrton Senna did as well. With Verstappen's form going from strength to strength, comparisons with drivers from by-gone era's are in order, with many often linking the Dutchman's aggressive driving style to that of F1 legend Ayrton Senna. Fittipaldi now adds his name to the list.
“Well, I think Max is on the level of driving now, incredible. He carries now the Red Bull car on his back. He's not driving, he's carrying the car in situations that, I mean, like the Brazilian Grand Prix last year I was there. It's amazing what he did,” said the 2-time world champion in the

For 'Emo' as the Brazilian former F1 champion is often called, Verstappen reminds him of his compatriot, the lat great Senna. “I go back to Ayrton Senna to compare his driving style. It's similar. I think what's very impressive is that he's able to utilise 100% of the car full-time, of the car performance, of the four wheels that have the grip.”
“He knows [how] to keep the balance, to use the four wheels effectively, holding the sideways bite correctly and I think that's very impressive, and brake into the corners, everything.”

For Fittipaldi, Verstappen is always able to extract the maximum performance of the car. “And he's always on the edge of the balance of the car, of utilising the maximum grip available in each different situation, braking, turn, mid-corner, exit. He can use the four wheels, perfect,” said the two-time world champion.
