The
Formula 1 cars and teams are yet to leave the Circuit de Catalunya as the first day of in-season testing starts. Lights went green at 8 am this morning and we will have updates if anything major breaks!
Just like winter testing, all teams have just 1 driver for today's session. Pirelli also has a couple of cars to perform some tyre testing.
Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton - fresh from his race win just 2 days ago
Ferrari
Sebastian Vettel - a chance for him to perhaps take a few frustrations out on the car and rediscover that balance.
Red Bull
Max Verstappen - probably good for him to get some more running, to add confidence. Sunday’s race was much better for the Dutchman.
Renault
Carlos Sainz - again, he’s having a quiet but a good season.
McLaren
Stoffel Vandoorne - a good chance for him to make improvements to his set up as his season hasn't been where he wanted it to be. Alonso has already said he’s too busy to take part in testing.
McLaren Pirelli Tyre test
Oliver Turvey - Highly rated British driver gets a go in the Mclaren car.
Haas
Romain Grosjean - it’s well documented. Things just haven’t been right, a chance to get a feel for the car under no real pressure.
Force India
Nicholas Latifi - racing in the F2 championship currently sitting 9th in the table. An 8th place finish was his 2017 result.
Force India Pirelli Tyre test
George Russell - Another highly rated up and coming British driver. Russell is part of the Mercedes junior drivers.
Toro Rosso
Sean Gelael - Another F2 driver currently sitting in 12th. He’s picked up 3 sets of points from 6 races this season.
Sauber
Antonio Giovinazzi - Ferrari’s reserve driver for this season. He was the runner-up in the F3 European championship.
Williams
Oliver Rowland - A 4 Brit to take to the track today. He is Williams’ junior driver.
