Sergio Perez, Jolyon Palmer and Sebastien Buemi all drove for the Formula 2 team Arden. The Formula 2 racing team is owned by Christian Horner's father and it has been announced that the team will not be on the grid in 2020. Instead, HWA will appear in their place.
HWA already race in Formula 3 but will step up into Formula 2. "With the expansion to Formula 2, we now cover an even wider market in motorsport, including Formula E, DTM and GT classes," said the HWA boss Ulrich Fritz in his statement.
Garry Horner, father of Christian Horner, has made the decision but has not ruled out returning in the future.
“Arden has successfully competed in the highest series under Formula 1 for more than twenty years. We have decided to take a step back in this series to see other options. We enjoyed our time in the F2 championships very much and may return someday. Never say never..." said Garry Horner.
