Hulkenberg's F1 career appears to be over: 'Chapter of F1 closed for me'

For a while there was hope for Nico Hulkenberg that he could return to Formula 1. With this week's confirmations, the German's chances seem to have been dashed.
Hulkenberg himself reveals that he has no chance of making a comeback in Formula 1. "There are no talks with Alfa Romeo. After all, that would have been the last option for a permanent seat in 2022, after all other seats are taken", he says in an interview with Bild. With Mercedes and Williams also confirming their drivers for 2022, Hulkenberg's chances are dwindling. "If it doesn't work out now, then the chapter of Formula One is closed for me."

Next step for Hulkenberg?

In any case, Hulkenberg remains positive. "Life goes on," he says. Whether we will see him back in another series is still unclear, but the German says he has "exciting requests" from other series.
Hulkenberg also feels no time pressure. "I am not in a hurry to make a decision," he said. He lets it be known that he first wants to "put everything in order" and then "see what happens next", according to the racing driver.
