How long can Red Bull and Mercedes go without team orders?

The 2021 Formula 1 season has only just begun, but so far it has been so evenly matched between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen that people are already looking ahead to later in the season. There have been no team orders as yet, but it's possible that there will be at some point.
Mercedes has always said that Hamilton and Bottas will have equal chances for the 2021 title. At the time, however, it was probably not taken into account that Red Bull had made a huge leap forward, and would therefore pose a serious threat to the dominant team.

Klien not expecting team orders yet

Former Formula One driver Christian Klien tells ServusTV whether he thinks the teams should bet everything on one driver already. "For the money that will be distributed at the end of the season, it would be better to let both cars race freely. For the viewers at least," Klien says.
He, therefore, thinks that team orders are out of the question for the time being. "Both Mercedes and Red Bull will only start doing that halfway through the season. But when it comes to the title, teammates will take points from each other," Klien said.
