Christian Horner insists he is still confident that Red Bull have made the right call to bring in the Honda engine for 2019. The Austrian team will ditch Renault after a long-term relationship.
Toro Rosso are running with the Honda engine already. They’ve had more than their fair share of reliability issues and lack of power throughout the season. The best they’ve managed was fourth place, but this was a fluke as that result scored 63% of their 2018 total.
Horner is relying on the development potential in the Japanese engine manufacturer.
“The situation is roughly similar between the two engines,” he told Auto Hebdo. “But there is more room for development potential.
“Renault have a very difficult weekend at Silverstone, our deficit was blatant, both in attack and defence. There is a gap to be filled, and we have great confidence in Honda, especially given what they have in the pipeline.”
