Hockenheim boss says F1 must decide "how important historical circuits are"

The boss of Hockenheim says that the circuit is still open to hosting F1 races, but it will need financial support to do so. One of last season's best races was the German Grand Prix, but the even won't be held this year.

F1 has had an on-off relationship with the country in recent years, alternating between Hockenheim and the Nurburgring before the latter stopped hosting races due to money troubles.

There was no German Grand Prix in 2015 or 2017, and Hockenheim has now dropped off the calendar, leaving the future of the race up in the air.

Circuit boss Jorn Teske told Motorsport-Total.com: "Germany is a country with a long racing tradition, a strong federation and automobile clubs, but it is unlikely that the organisers of other grands prix must fully rely on ticket sales.
