Nicolas Hamilton, the brother of Lewis Hamilton, shared an emotional message on social media ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. He will also be competing in the United Kingdom this weekend. Nicolas Hamilton: 'That's why I race'
He wrote: "2008 - Lewis, pushing me in my wheelchair at the Spanish Grand Prix. 2026 - We both prepare to get into our race cars! Maybe this was the path always set for Lewis, but it sure was not the path I was meant to follow and when I get into my car, I always think of Nic in his chair all those years ago and I’m so proud, it means more than you know. Whether I am last or first, that’s why I race .… for Nic in his wheelchair, dreaming of racing, but struggling to walk. Now, this weekend, both Hamilton brothers are racing on the same weekend! Who would have thought it?!"
Lewis Hamilton is set to travel to Montreal to compete in the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix with Ferrari. Meanwhile, Nicolas Hamilton will be in action for Team VERTU in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Snetterton Circuit in Norfol. Turn 5 at the circuit is also named after the seven-time world champion.
After the opening two rounds of the season, Nicolas is currently 19th in the standings. He scored his first points in 2026 at the second race at Brands Hatch, where he finished 11th.
Lewis Hamilton opts for alternative approach ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix
Meanwhile, his brother, Lewis Hamilton, previously explained that he plans to
change his approach ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. Speaking to
GPblog, among others, he said:
"I'm not going to go on the simulator between now and the next race. I'll still go and hold meetings at the factory and stuff, but I'm just going to back away from it for a little bit and see. Because when we went to China, I had the best weekend without the sim."He also highlighted where Ferrari needs to improve to challenge at the front once again. The seven-time
F1 world champion added:
"I'm looking forward to it, but, we need to see if we can find some..., cut some drag before the next race because on the straight line, we've got that deficit and so we've got to have a look into that."Nicolas Hamilton's emotional post
