Lewis Hamilton sparked laughter during the FIA press conference ahead of the United States Grand Prix with a cheeky response when asked whether he had any advice for Kimi Antonelli. The seven-time world champion then turned serious, praising the young Italian for his performances and attitude throughout the season.
Hamilton was asked whether he had any advice for Antonelli, who replaced him at Mercedes following his move to Ferrari last year. The Italian has enjoyed a strong season, regularly competing towards the front of the grid and establishing himself as one of the most promising young drivers in Formula 1.
The Briton initially responded with just two words: "Slow down," prompting laughter from those present in the press conference.
Hamilton then made it clear that Antonelli does not need any guidance from him, highlighting the Italian's talent, composure and approach to racing: "No, I don't know. He doesn't need any advice. I think he's shown this year and also last year, but particularly this year, just his talent and his ability, his calmness and approach, but he's done an amazing job this year, and I'm so proud of him.

"I'm so proud of the way he's carried himself, how he interacts with the drivers, even with you guys. And it's great to see him and the team excel. You know, if it's not my team, I'd always say I'd always want to see my own team do well."

Antonelli could clinch his first F1 world title in Austin

Antonelli heads into the United States Grand Prix with his first opportunity to clinch the championship. The Mercedes driver holds a commanding 102-point advantage over team-mate George Russell, having claimed eight victories this season. With six Grands Prix remaining on the official calendar, the Italian could become the youngest world champion in F1 history this weekend.
However, a victory at the Circuit of the Americas alone would not be enough. The 20-year-old must win Sunday's race, with Russell finishing ninth or lower and Hamilton no higher than fifth. Those results would give Antonelli an unassailable advantage with five races remaining.

Should Antonelli achieve that feat, he would break Sebastian Vettel's record as the youngest world champion in Formula 1 history. The German secured his maiden title with Red Bull in 2010 at the age of 23, while Antonelli could claim his first championship at just 20. He would also become the first Italian driver to win the title since Alberto Ascari in 1953.
