Lewis Hamilton has been awarded a 10 second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage after his battle with Max Verstappen on lap 6 of the Mexico GP.
"That's such **** man. The grip is so small there, the grip there is so low."

The Ferrari driver was awarded a 10 second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage at turn 4 as part of a multi-corner fight for P3 with Verstappen.
Verstappen initially launched a move up the inside of Hamilton on turn 1 as the pair made contact. The FIA investigated the turn 1 incident but took no further action.
However their wheel-to-wheel tussle continued to turn 4, where Hamilton went off the track and was judged to have illegally maintained P3.

Hamilton unhappy on the radio

FIA stewards judged that Hamilton gained an advantage by leaving the track and awarded the Briton a 10 second penalty.
Hamilton's race engineer Ricardo Adami said over the radio: "We have a 10-second time penalty for the incident at turn 4 with Verstappen. We don't agree."
The seven-time world champion replied: "That's such **** man. The grip is so small there, the grip there is so low."
There is a designated run-off area to follow in turn 4, which Hamilton did not follow and drove over the grass instead.

An opportunistic Oliver Bearman running in P5 made the most of the Hamilton and Verstappen battle and poached P4 from Verstappen.
Hamilton has since served his 10 second penalty during his first pit stop.
As of lap 30 Lando Norris continues to lead from Charles Leclerc and will lead the world championship as it stands.
