'Lewis will come out of this weekend thinking he could have done much better'
- Peter Windsor
Analyzing Ferrari’s weekend on his YouTube channel, Windsor said: “Hamilton finished ahead of Leclerc. That’s because, he had the better of the two tyre strategies.
Windsor believes that Hamilton managed to finish ahead of his teammate despite starting further back thanks to a better strategy, which ultimately worked in his favor, even if it didn’t result in a truly remarkable position.

He started on the hard, switched to the mediums, got a long stint, and managed his tyres very well, whereas Leclerc had to stop earlier. He was on the mediums and then struggled in traffic after that.
Lewis will come out of this weekend thinking he could have done much better. He shouldn’t have had that FP1 incident, and could have improved in qualifying, but the race pace was there, and he finished ahead of Leclerc.”
Despite the disappointing result, Windsor ultimately believes that Hamilton is starting to make progress with Ferrari after a difficult start to the season.
“He’ll be heading to Singapore thinking the tide is starting to turn, with Hamilton now closer to Leclerc going into a weekend. We’ll see how it develops once they get to Singapore.”

Another bad weekend for Hamilton and Ferrari

The seven-time world champion started the weekend strongly on Friday, setting the fastest time in the second practice session.
However, in qualifying it quickly became clear that the SF-25 no longer provided the same feel as earlier in the week, with Hamilton knocked out in Q2 in twelfth place. The Briton described using the soft tires as a mistake, especially at a stage when many others had gone out on mediums.
In the race, Hamilton managed to get back into the points, putting in a fairly solid performance overall, though it was marred at the end when he misjudged the timing of returning a position to his teammate, failing to complete the swap as instructed by the Ferrari pit wall.
