Hamilton clear: 'Don't agree when it happens'

Lewis Hamilton is set to face a difficult weekend. The British driver is up against Max Verstappen who starts a home race in F1 for the first time, and the Dutch fans will give their support to their fellow countryman.

Several Dutch spectators booed Hamilton again last weekend in Belgium. The seven-time world champion thinks it's a shame this is happening. "Fortunately the British fans don't do booing," he told Motorsport.com. "The British fans are fantastic. I can't remember ever hearing boos from the British fans during my time in Formula 1. I don't have the best memory, but I'm sure there it never happened."

Despite this, Hamilton also knows that this is part of the sport and tries to make himself as unaffected by the whistling as possible. "I generally don't agree when it happens. We all do our best to give the best performance possible. But as I said, it's part of sport."

Last weekend Hamilton qualified third for the race in Belgium. Heavy rain prevented the drivers from racing, but the race committee decided to award points. It means that his lead over Verstappen in the world championship is now only three points.
