Haas is allowed to make up the missed hours of the first day of testing by Formula 1. The request to make up the hours on Sunday morning was rejected, but another solution has been found.
Haas missed out on valuable test time on Thursday morning due to a delay earlier this week. The team bore the brunt of a delayed cargo plane. As a result, the car's parts arrived a day later, which prevented Haas from getting to the track on Thursday morning. On Thursday afternoon, the American team still managed 47 laps.
Haas can make up for the damage
Because Haas could do little about the delay but needs the time to test is crucial, they asked F1 if it could make up the lost time on Sunday morning. This request was rejected by Formula 1. However, the organization thought long and has now found an interim solution.
Haas has been given permission to make up the four hours they missed on Friday and Saturday. Kevin Magnussen will drive on Friday afternoon and he will be allowed to stay on the track one hour longer than the rest of the drivers. On Saturday, Kevin will be allowed to do so again once the morning program is over and Mick Schumacher will drive for an additional two hours on Saturday afternoon.
