Alfa Romeo said goodbye to Antonio Giovinazzi at the end of last season. For the Italian, it means that he will not be back in Formula 1 in 2022. Nevertheless, he does not think it is his definitive end in motorsport.
In recent years Giovinazzi has worked for Sauber and Alfa Romeo. Although he worked hard to bring out the best in himself, he was not able to convince enough. This resulted in a colourless season where he didn't come further than ninth and tenth place. With three points he finished just above Mick Schumacher, Robert Kubica and Nikita Mazepin who remained pointless.
However, Giovinazzi is convinced he will be back. "I’m leaving for now. I posted my first picture in a F1 car when I was three years old on my social media. The last picture in F1 is not this year. We saw already many drivers have stopped for one year and come back, like Esteban Ocon and Alex Albon," he revealed in conversation with the official website of Formula 1.

Alfa Romeo wants to bring fresh energy with a completely new team. Guanyu Zhou makes his debut in Formula 1, while Valtteri Bottas comes over from Mercedes.
