Formula 1 winter break, reports emerged suggesting that a possible trick may have been used by power unit supplier Mercedes and also Red Bull Ford. It has been suggested that
with an increase above the allowed 16:1 compression ratio when the engine is running, they would have an advantage of four tenths a lap.
Ahead of the first pre-season tests, a meeting will be scheduled by the
FIA. A spokesperson for the federation explained to
GPblog that this is a 'customary' meeting, one that would take place ahead of every regulation change.
