The FIA has decided to modify the first corner of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for Sunday's race. It is about the barrier at the first corner, as it had been extended, but will now be shortened again.
For this year's Grand Prix weekend, the FIA extended the end of the crash barrier to prevent cars that had lost control from jumping across into traffic coming out of Turn 2.

FIA in talks with drivers

There was talk of removing the piece of barrier, but it remained in place for Saturday's qualifying, when there were more incidents at the corner. However, the barrier has been modified for Sunday, with the last four metres removed to make it easier for drivers to safely return to the track and further up from turn two.
"Following discussion with the drivers we are making the change to allow them to rejoin more easily and will refine this solution further for future events," an FIA spokesperson told Autosport.com
