Binotto on Vettel: ''According to both parties, this is the best decision''

Sebastian Vettel will have to leave Ferrari at the end of 2020. In Vettel's statement it seeps through that the German herself also saw no point in it, but Mattia Binotto also makes it clear that the team is opting for a different direction.

"This is a decision that we made together with Sebastian, a decision that both parties believe is the best. It was not an easy decision, given the value of Sebastian as a driver and as a person. There was no specific reason that led to this decision, apart from the common and friendly conviction that the time had come to go our own way to achieve our respective goals", says Binotto in a statement on the Ferrari website.

''On behalf of everyone at Ferrari, I would like to thank Sebastian for his great professionalism and the human qualities he has shown in these five years in which we have shared so many beautiful moments. We have not yet managed to win a world title together, which for him would be a fifth, but we believe that we can still get much out of this unusual season 2020'', concludes Binotto the press release.
