Ferrari denies team boss Binotto's departure in online statement

On Tuesday, Italian media reported that Mattia Binotto will be replaced as team boss at Ferrari in January. The Italian team itself is now sharing a statement on social media. Ferrari denies the reports about Binotto's position.

It has been clear for some time that things need to change within Ferrari. The team threw away the title itself this season due to several strategic mistakes and problems with the car's reliability. At the beginning of the year, Charles Leclerc was still battling Max Verstappen on the track, now the difference between the two drivers is bigger than ever.

Since Binotto took the helm, Ferrari has won just seven races. The Italian has been under pressure for some time because of Ferrari's poor results and vanished title hopes. On Tuesday, reports emerged of Binotto's possible departure. The Italian would be replaced by Alfa Romeo team boss Fred Vasseur in January.

Ferrari has shared a statement on Twitter about the rumours, in which the team denies that Binotto will be replaced. "In relation to speculation in certain media regarding Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto's position, Ferrari states that these rumours are totally without foundation," the message reads.

The reports come after a mediocre weekend in Brazil for Ferrari. Mercedes managed to score a one-two at Interlagos, further catching up with the Italians in the battle for P2 in the constructors' championship.
