FIA issue bizarre disqualification over unusual rule breach at Spa

The FIA determined that, during the red-flag period, a Campos team guest was using a pit-lane headset fitted with a microphone, despite not being authorised to do so under the Sporting Regulations. Although the team explained that the guest had mistakenly taken the wrong headset, the stewards ruled that Campos was ultimately responsible for ensuring the correct equipment was used by non-operational personnel.

Because the guest was associated exclusively with León's car, the Mexican driver was disqualified from the results despite finishing seventh: "As it was established that the guest was associated exclusively with Car 5, the Stewards determined that the disqualification should only apply to León.

Campos also received a suspended 25-point championship deduction, which will only be applied if the team commits another breach of the same regulation before the end of the 2026 season.

Lastly, Dino Beganovic was handed a five-second time penalty after the stewards found he had moved before the start signal was given. Having reviewed video footage and telemetry data, they concluded that he spun his wheels and moved significantly after the third start light had illuminated but before the race officially began.
