Max Verstappen and Oliver Bearman can breathe a little easier after having penalty points removed from their super licences The penalty point system, designed to monitor and enforce driving standards, stipulates that any driver who accumulates 12 points within a 12-month period will receive a race ban – as was witnessed with former
Haas driver Kevin Magnussen at the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.Verstappen and Bearman held the most penalty points on the current grid ahead of the race in Mexico. However, following the conclusion of the Grand Prix, both drivers have now had more points removed from their licences.

Verstappen, who at the Canadian Grand Prix was teetering on the brink of a potential race ban with 11 points following his collision with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix, now heads into the next race in Brazil with six points.
The
Red Bull Racing driver has had the two penalty points he received at the 2024
Mexican Grand Prix for his incident involving Lando Norris removed, as well as the one point he earned at last year’s
Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint for a safety car infringement.
Bearman, on his part, entered the race weekend in Mexico on 10 penalty points but will take to the circuit in Sao Paulo with only eight, after having the two points he received for a collision with Franco Colapinto during the 2024 edition of the race removed from his licence.
Oscar Piastri also had two penalty points withdrawn from his licence in the aftermath of the Mexico City race, with the Australian now sitting on four penalty points.
