The Belgian Grand Prix weekend continues with qualifying on Saturday. Stay with us throughout the session as GPblog brings you the latest updates and exclusive insights straight from the Spa-Francorchamps paddock.
Kimi Antonelli topped the timesheets in FP3 today, finishing ahead of Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and the two Ferrari drivers. There was big drama at the end of the session after Lewis Hamilton suffered a big crash, giving his Ferrari team a race against time to get his car ready for qualifying. Hamilton's crash was almost a carbon-copy of the one Pierre Gasly suffered on Friday out of Turn 13.
Verstappen and Red Bull have been competitive throughout the practice sessions with Verstappen topping the timesheets in FP1 ahead of the two Ferrari drivers. The second practice on Friday was topped by Antonelli, ahead of Norris and Verstappen.
Several drivers were fitted with new power unit components for the Belgian Grand Prix weekend. The list includes both Antonelli and Verstappen, although neither driver will receive a grid penalty at this stage. That is not the case for Norris, Isack Hadjar, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, all of whom have exceeded the number of power unit components permitted over the course of the 2026 season and will therefore take grid penalties.
In the drivers' championship, both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton gained ground on Kimi Antonelli at Silverstone after the young Italian retired from the points following a car issue at the British Grand Prix. Heading into this weekend, Russell trails Antonelli by 25 points, while Hamilton is 32 points behind.

Hamilton crashes in FP3

The seven-time world champion made a rare mistake as he lost control of his Ferrari and crashed into the same tyre barrier that Pierre Gasly did on Friday.
The crash took place in the final moments of the session, one which he finished fifth - less than four tenths behind pacesetter Kimi Antonelli. Onboard replays showed Hamilton making a small correction as he entered Turn 13, before having a big snap which sent him out into the barriers much like Gasly's Alpine on Friday. The impact caused significant damage to the rear-end of Hamilton’s Ferrari and forced the seven-time world champion to stop on track.
"Yeah, I have destroyed the car mate," Hamilton told his team over the radio, who now have a big race against time to get his car ready for qualifying. Hamilton destroyed the right rear wheel of his Ferrari and his rear wing. If Hamilton requires a new gearbox, he will be able to use one from his pool and not pick up a penalty.
