George Russell showed he and Mercedes were the combination to beat at the Australian Grand Prix after an impressive final free practice session.
The Brit finished six-tenths clear of the rest of the grid with a 1:19.053, finishing ahead of the Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.
Those results set up a very intriguing qualifying session, taking place at 05:00 GMT.

Behind the top three, Oscar Piastri was in P4 after topping the timing sheets in FP2, while Isack Hadjar finished fifth and a tenth clear of his teammate Max Verstappen in his debut weekend with Red Bull Racing.
Russell's teammate Kimi Antonelli ended the session down in P7, but his chances of making qualifying took a huge hit after a mega crash left his Mercedes with extensive damage.Lando Norris cou
2025 World Champion Lando Norris could only finish P8 as the chequered flag fell, while Gabriel Bortoleto and Oliver Bearman rounded out the top ten.
